  • SICILY: DELEGATION’S SUMMER ACTIVITIES

    On July 24th, the second distribution of products of the project Briciole di Salute took place in Monreale, at the Constantinian Church Maria SS degli Agonizzanti.

    July 10th was a feast day for the community of the old district of the “Civita” of Catania, since Father Giuseppe Scrivano celebrated his ninth anniversary of priesthood at the church of San Francesco di Paola.

    On July 29th the usual distribution of products of the project Briciole di Salute took place in Piazza Armerina.

    On August 4th, the second edition of “Cycling to give hope” was held in Piazza Armerina. The event, sponsored by various local authorities, including the Sicilian delegation of the Order, brought together all citizens, regardless of their age, on a charity day. The donations made were entirely donated to the FASTED Onlus association in Palermo.

    On July 31st, the vice delegate handed Dom Bernardo, head of the Caritas of the benedictine Abbey of S. Martino delle Scale, many products requested by the Benedictine monks.

    On July 31st, the vice delegate and Mrs. Lia Giangreco gave to Casa del Sorriso’s volunteers some diapers, baby food and milk.

    On August 1st a food distribution was organized in Acireale.

    On August 3rd, the vice Delegate and Mr. Pier Francesco Mistretta gave to Archbishop Leonardo Giordano some products of the project Briciole di Salute.

    On August 9th the vice delegate handed Archpriest Don Vincenzo Ambrogio some products in Carini.

    On August 12th HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect, accompanied by the vice Delegate, delivered food products of the project Briciole di Salute project to the canteen of S. Corrado in Noto.

    On August 11st, on the occasion of the celebration in honor of Maria SS. Addolorata in Marsala, a representation of the Order took part in the Mass celebrated by Bishop Giancarlo Tumbarello. At the end of the liturgy, a procession took place as well.

  • SICILY: ACTIVITIES OF THE MONTH OF JULY

    The first monthly distribution of the project “Briciole di Salute” was held on Wednesday, July 10th in Monreale. The vice delegate, together with the volunteers Daniela Prestigiacomo, Antonella Zito and Sonia Lo Monaco, distributed several products for early childhood, including diapers, baby food, cookies, pasta, milk and numerous items for children from zero to three years old.

    On July 3rd, H.E. Bishop Michele Pennisi, on the seventeenth anniversary of his episcopal ordination, presided over a solemn pontificate at the cathedral of Monreale. Many Knights were present, as well as the vice delegate, Mrs. Maria Antonietta Spagnolo, Mr. Piero Macaluso, Mr. Andrea Di Giovanna, a delegation from the Holy Sepulcher and civil and military authorities.

  • SICILY: ACTIVITIES CONCERNING THE PROJECT “BRICIOLE DI SALUTE”

    On Tuesday, May 21st, the vice Delegate and Mrs. Lia Giangreco delivered to the sisters of the structure Boccone del Povero in Monreale some diapers, milk, biscuits, pasta and baby food.

    Like every month, the Sicilian delegation supplies about 10 kg of artisanal biscuits to Casa del Sorriso. The Vice Delegate of Sicily and Mrs Lia Giangreco also delivered diapers and 24 liters of milk.

    The families of patients admitted to “Barone Romeo” hospital are accommodated free of charge. The Bishop of Patti, HE Msgr. Guglielmo Giombanco, having taken note of this sad reality, made available to these people the premises of the diocesan structure. On May 23rd, some volunteers gave confectionery products to sister Rita and sister Shiny.

    On May 31st, the representative of Catania, accompanied by Knight Cristoforo Arena and Mrs. Giuseppe D’Urso, entrusted children’s products to the nuns of the Madonna della Tenda di Cristo structure.

    On May 29th, the second monthly distribution of Briciole di Salute project took place in Monreale. Daniela Prestigiacomo, Antonella Zito and Sonia Lo Monaco distributed diapers of different sizes, biscuits, baby food, milk, pasta, baby clothes, toys and two strollers.

    On May 29th, HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect, accompanied by the Vice Delegate, was the guest of honor at the gala evening of the F.I.A.P.A. The president of the Catania section, Cinzia Torrisi, gave the Donna F.I.A.P.A. Award to Princess Beatrice for her social commitment in the project.

    On June 4th, Father D Dario Pavone hosted a group of knights and dames at S. Stefano Church in Piazza Armerina. They donated garrisons for children.

  • SICILY: ACTIVITIES OF THE MONTH OF MAY

    On May 6th, the Vice Delegate and Bishop Salvatore Grimaldi delivered some products to the sisters of the “Speranza e Carità” Mission of Brother Biagio Conte. Layers of different sizes and homogenized fruits were delivered.

    On May 8th, the first distribution of the project Briciole di Salute took place in Monreale, at Maria SS degli Agonizzanti church. The vice delegate and volunteers Lia Giangreco, Daniela Prestigiacomo, Sonia Lo Monaco and Antonella Zito distributed diapers, milk, baby food, pasta, biscuits and clothing as well as children’s shoes. The Constantinian Order has responded to the needs of more than 40 children.

    On May 9th, the vice delegate gave the volunteers of the Caritas of the Eparchia in Piana degli Albanesi, various packages of diapers and homogenized products for children. The products will be delivered to needy families.

    On May 17th, the vice delegate and Bishop Salvatore Grimaldi donated 120 liters of milk and homogenized food to Sister Mattia of the Mission “Speranza e Carità”, for the children assisted by the nuns of the mission.

    On May 18th, the concert of May took place at Maria SS delle Grazie church in Monreale. It was directed by Mr. Alberto Giacchino. Some students of the piano course, led by Mrs. Marzia Manno of V. Bellini Conservatory of Palermo, had the chance to perform.

  • SICILY: DONATIONS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE DELEGATION

    On April 18th the delegation of Sicily participated in the solemn liturgy of Holy Thursday at the Basilica Trinità la Magione in Palermo. The ceremony was presided by parish priest Salvatore Grimaldi. Mr. Claudio Ragusa, together with Mr. Antonio Mangano and Mrs. Maria Antonia Spagnolo, also offered two Easter eggs and other products for the needy of the parish.

    On April 23rd, a mass was celebrated on the occasion of the solemnity of Saint George at the church San Francesco di Paola in Palermo.

    Mr. Massimo Putrino and Mr. Giancarlo Greco attended the Holy Thursday Mass on April 18th at the church San Giuseppe in Acireale.

    On April 23rd, St. George’s Day, Patron of our Order, a Mass was celebrated in Piazza Armerina, in the presence of some Knights and Dames of the provinces of Enna and Caltanissetta.

    On April 19th, a group of knights attended the celebrations of Holy Friday in Montelepre.

    On April 27th, the vice delegate, accompanied by Mr. Spezia, delivered to the Caritas parish of S. Anna in Balestrate some products for the early childhood.

    On April 30th, Mr. Giulio Pillitteri delivered two metal shelves for the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Corleone. The shelves will allow a better arrangement of food.

    On the occasion of the Divine Mercy Sunday, a statue of Saint George was donated by the Barons Salamone to the Mother Church of Castel di Tusa. At the end of the ceremony, Barons Salamone organised a reception in their medieval castle.

  • CALABRIA AND SICILY: DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY IN CAPIZZI

    On April 28th, a solemn religious ceremony was held in Capizzi. Many faithful took part in the ceremony presided by the archpriest Father Antonio Cipriano. The two delegations were present alongside the Vice Delegate of Sicily, the Vice Delegate of Calabria, Mr. Letterio Donato and Mrs. Santina Ferlito. There was also a procession in the city. At the end of the mass, the archpriest went to the church of Our Lady of Graces and, after paying homage to the statue of the Virgin, the procession continued with the statue. In the afternoon, at the end of an intense and moving day, the delegation of Sicily offered two wheelchairs to the Calabrian delegation. These wheelchairs will be used to help people with reduced mobility.

  • SICILY: ACTIVITIES OF THE MONTH OF APRIL

    On April 8th, the vice delegate delivered 900 cookies to the structure Casa del Sorriso in Monreale, donated by the Delegation of Tuscany, which adopted the structure together with the Sicilian delegation. Indeed, in February the vice-delegate of Tuscany, together with Father Rodolfo Rossi and the vice delegate of Sicily, visited the structure and decided to help. The Sicilian delegation simultaneously donated diapers, baby food and 15 kg of cookies.

    On April 10th, the first monthly distribution of the project Briciole di Salute took place in Monreale. On this occasion, in addition to the products for early childhood, toys were also donated by the volunteer Sonia Lo Monaco.

    On April 13th, the usual distribution of food aid was carried out for S. Corrado canteen in Noto. The vice delegate gave the nuns of the community “Piccoli Frati Poveri e Suore Povere”, canned beans, tomato pulp and canned tuna.

    On April 14th, Palm Sunday, the Sicilian delegation participated in the solemn pontificate chaired by H.E. Rev. Mons. Michele Pennisi. The Archbishop Emeritus of Monreale H.E. Mons. Salvatore Di Cristina also attended and, along with Bishop Pennisi, was accompanied by a representation of Knights and by the vice delegate.

  • SICILY: BRICIOLE DI SALUTE AND A CONCERT

    On April 5th, the vice delegate handed the archpriest of Carini, Father Vincenzo Ambrogio, some products for two children belonging to a disadvantaged family assisted by the parish priest.

    On April 7th, the vice delegate delivered 100 kg of pasta to the needy people in the district of Guadagna. The quantity of pasta was delivered to the Brotherhood of the Assumption which supports the Royal Church Caroline. On Easter, this pasta and other food items will be distributed to families in need.

    On April 6th, on the occasion of the thirteenth season of concerts of the Sicilian delegation, three students who have just graduated from piano and belonging to the Vincenzo Bellini conservatory of Palermo performed at the Maria SS degli Agonizzanti Church. The pieces of classical music were interspersed with poems read by the poets of the Association Polifonie d’Arte. During the evening, the vice delegate described the beauty and history of the church entrusted to the Constantinian Order.

    On March 27th, the second distribution of March for children from zero to three years of the project Briciole di Salute took place at the premises of the Church Maria SS degli Agonizzanti in Monreale.

    On March 22nd, the monthly distribution of products of the Briciole di Salute project took place in Piazza Armerina. Father Dario Pavone received biscuits, milk, baby food, diapers and croissants, which will be distributed to children from 0 to 3 years of needy families assisted by the parish.

     

  • SICILY: PREPARATION FOR LENT

    On April 1st, some Dames and Knights participated in a spiritual retreat in preparation for Easter at the Church San Francesco in Caltanissetta. The meditation was led by Father Luigi Sansone, chaplain of the Order, who explained that Lent is characterized by an insistent invitation to conversion. Some indications were given: it is important to fast, to pray and practice charity, which reconnects us to the others.

  • SICILY: ACTIVITIES OF THE PROJECT BRICIOLE DI SALUTE

    On March 21st, the Vice delegate of Sicily handed over to the Caritas volunteers of the Piana degli Albanesi Eparchy several diapers of various sizes and pasta for children from zero to three years old. The Caritas is headed by Dr Caruso. The Vice delegate was also received by H.E. Rev. Msgr. Giorgio Demetrio Gallaro. During the meeting, they talked about the importance of the project Briciole di Salute that has been active in the Eparchy for several years.

    On March 21st Francesco Grandinetti and Marilena Grandinetti gave Father Francesco, head of the Casa del Sorriso in Monreale, 270 croissants, milk and approximately 15 kg of biscuits from the bakery of Mrs. Enza Pizzolato.

    According to the annual tradition, a solidarity lunch was held, offered by the Sicilian delegation, at the Boccone del Povero in Piazza Armerina. The vice delegate, together with Matteo Bertino, representative of the province of Enna, Alessandro Balsamo, Giovanni Paternò, Giuseppe Balsamo, Giuseppina Crescimanna and Father Dario Pavone served the meals to the guests of the structure.

    On Friday, March 22nd, some Knights were in charge of delivering the confectionery products of a local businessman to the Madonna della Tenda di Cristo Community in Acireale. The monthly delivery, which is part of the “Briciole di Salute” project, was possible thanks to the active collaboration provided by Mr. Giuseppe D’Urso.

    On Friday, March 22nd, Antonino Amato, Cristofaro Arena, Giancarlo Greco, Massimo Putrino, Giuseppe Longo, together with Mr. Massimo Vacanti, participated in the spiritual exercises at the Church of Saint Joseph. Lots of local people participated in the meeting, which was an occasion for deep reflections and meditation.
