  • TUSCANY – PRE-EASTER MEAL AND DONATION OF FOOD

    Livorno, 13 April 2017. The Tuscany Delegation  of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George organized a pre-Easter meal for 150 needy people in the Caritas of Livorno. The Vice Delegate, Knight Commander of Merit with Star Edoardo Puccetti, assisted by several other Knights, and Sister Raffaella Spiezzo, President of the Caritas Foundation of Livorno, worked to ensure the success of the event, a symbol of solidarity and sharing with the less fortunate. At the end of the meal all participants received an Easter egg donated by the Knights.

     

    On the following day, Good Friday, the Knights and Dames of the Delegation donated food items to the priest of the Church of St. Peter the Apostle in Avenza (Carrara), to be distributed to the needy families of the community. They then took part in the solemn procession of Good Friday.

     

    On Tuesday, 18 April, the Vice Delegate, together with several knights of the Order, brought basic food supplies to the soup kitchen of the Minor Franciscan Fathers of the parish of St. Anthony in  Viareggio.

  • LIGURIA – FOOD DONATIONS

    Pasqua 2017 - aiuti alimentari nel Ponente di Genova

    Genova, 14 April 2017 – In honor of Easter representatives of the Ligurian Delegation collected and donated food items to the parish of the ancient Mother Church of Genova Pegli dedicated to Saints Martin and Benedict.

    The Knights, led by the Delegate, were welcomed by parish priest Don Michele Alberta who has been providing spiritual guidance to the activities of the Delegation for some time.

  • SICILY – EASTER PRECEPT, WAY OF THE CROSS AND PALM SUNDAY

    Palermo –  In view of the upcoming Easter festivities, the Sicilian Delegation is providing greater support to their various dioceses during this period that is so significant for the life of every Christian.

    The Easter precept was inaugurated with a religious function in the small church of St. Mary Magdalen inside the military headquarters of Saint Giacomo, in Palermo. The Knights and Dames were welcomed by General Riccardo Galletta, Knight Commander of Merit and Commander of the Carabinieri Legion of Sicily.

    On Friday, April 7, several Knights and Dames went to the Church of San Giuseppe al Palazzo in Messina to take part in the traditional Way of the Cross, led by the Rector, Mons. Mario di Pietro, Knight of Ecclesiastical Grace.

  • LOMBARDY ACTIVITIES – APRIL 2017

    Lombardy, April 2017 – During the month of April the Lombardy Delegation diversified its activities, alternating cultural events with religious ones by  providing assistance to the needy.

    On March 28, the Knights and Dames of the Brescia and Mantova Delegation delivered over 330 kg of pasta, donated by the Pagani Company, to Mons. Antonio Bodini, representative for the Brescia East zone of the Brescia Caritas.

    Saturday, April 1, the Representative for Varese, Cav. Giovanni Mattei, accompanied by two applicants for membership in the Order, delivered a sizeable quantity of articles of clothing to be distributed to the needy of the city and the province to the representative of the Diocesan Caritas of Varese, Don Marco Casale,

    On April 2, on the occasion of the Feast of St. Francis of Paola, co-patron of the Constantinian Order, a Holy Mass was celebrated in the Brescia parish of St. Francis by the chaplain Mons. Ivo Panteghini, delegated by the bishop. The mass was attended by a large group of Knights and Dames.

  • SICILY – COMMEMORATION OF THE VI CENTENNIAL OF ST. FRANCIS OF PAOLA

    Palermo, April 2, Solemnity of St. Francis of Paola. The celebratory year commemorating the VI centennial of the patron saint of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies was concluded in the church of St. Francis.

    At the conclusion of the religious ceremony, the Vice Delegate, Nob. Antonio di Janni, conveyed the greetings of H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, Grand Master and Head of the Royal House, as well as those of His Most Rev. Eminence Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino, Grand Prior and the Prior for Sicily His Most Rev. Eminence Mons. Michele Pennisi, Archbishop of Monreale.

    The Vice Delegate also reiterated the commitment of the Sicily Delegation to continuing the project Crumbs of Health in the church of St. Francis of Paola.

    On the same day, several Sicilian Knights and Dames participated in the ceremony held in the Sanctuary of St. Francis of Paola in Milazzo.

    The Eucharistic Liturgy was presided by His Most Rev. Eminence Mons. Vittorio Luigi Mondello, Archbishop Emeritus of Reggio Calabria – Bova, Knight Commander of Ecclesiastical Grace. For the occasion the Constantinian Knights acted as honor guard for the Relic of the Mantle of the Saint during the procession toward the Sanctuary.

  • PIEMONTEAND VALLE D’AOSTA – ACTIVITIES DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH

    In March the Delegation of Piemonte and the Valle d’Aosta also diversified  the activities performed by the Knights and Dames in various cities.

    On Monday, March 20,  the Delegation of Alessandria commemorated the  death of H.R.H. Prince Ferdinand of Bourbon Two Sicilies, the LIII Grand Master, and all the deceased of the Order, in accordance with the instructions contained in chapt. IX of the By-laws.

    The memorial mass was celebrated by the Chaplain of the Delegation, Don Augusto Piccoli, Knight of Ecclesiastical Grace.

    In agreement with the Vice Delegate of the Piedmont Region, Dott. Mario Baschirotto, funds were collected during mass  to be used to purchase food items for the poor. The items will be distributed by a special “center” opened in the Parish of St. Lorenzo of Alessandria.

  • CRUMBS OF HEALTH IN S. MAMILIANO, PALERMO

    il delegato vicario con una volontaria del centroPalermo, 20 March 2017. The initiative Crumbs of Health is enriched by an additional distribution point. In order to fulfil the requests of the Diocese, Vice Delegate Dott. Antonio di Janni has also included the Parish of San Mamiliano, in Palermo, among the sites to receive the monthly distribution of products for infants – homogenized baby food, diapers, milk, etc.
    The meeting with the parish priest, Don Buccaro, was very fruitful and led to the beginning of a new collaboration of the Knights and Dames of Palermo who will assist the volunteers of the Parish in a soup kitchen preparing daily meals for the needy to bring home, thus allowing them to avoid common soup kitchens and safeguarding family unity. Weekly supplies will include meat, fish and milk.

  • THE CONSTANTINIAN ORDER IN PIACENZA

    ComnenoOn March 11 Piacenza became the theatre for a particularly significant event organized by the Delegation of Emilia Romagna. The event consisted of several phases that began with the celebration of Holy Mass in the Royal Oratory of San Dalmazio.
    The mass, celebrated by H.E. Mons. Gianni Ambrosio (Bishop of the Diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio) was concelebrated by Mons. Arnaldo Morandi (Secretary General of the Office of the Grand Prior and Prior of the Lombardy Delegation), Mons. Domenico Ponzini (Prior of the Delegation), Don Stefano Antonelli (Vice Prior of the Delegation), Don Manuel Paganuzzi (Chaplain of the Military Academy of Modena and the Modena Association) and Don Bruno Crotti (military chaplain of Piacenza). Prior to the mass Mons. Morandi read a message from His Eminence the Most Rev. Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino, Protodeacon of the Holy Roman Catholic Church and Grand Prior of the Order, conveying his greetings to the Bishop, the Senior Authorities and Dignitaries and all present and offering words of encouragement “for a path of faith founded on Catechesis, Liturgy and Charity”, applauding the initiative that “affirms the spiritual foundation of the sacred Constantinian militia” and “recalling the ceremony of investiture” which he officiated in Saint Dalmazio in December 2015, “followed by a visit to the elderly in the Senior Home of Madonna della Bomba”.
    The celebrants were joined by the Prior and members of the very ancient confraternity of the Holy Spirit, owners of the Oratory, in their ceremonial garb.

  • THE CONSTANTINIAN ORDER IN PIACENZA SICILY, MARCH 19 2017, CRUMBS OF HEALTH IN BARRAFRANCA AND SOLIDARITY MEAL IN MONREALE AND CATANIA

    4Enna, Palermo and Catania, 19 March 2017 –This year as in the past, the feast of St. Joseph was the perfect occasion for the community of Barrafranca (EN) to renew an ancient and heartfelt tradition: “the solidarity meal”.
    Food with an extended shelf life is collected and assembled in the premises of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Cross of the mother church and is distributed to the needy families of the city. This year, as part of the project Crumbs of health, the Knights of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George donated food and essential goods for the needy.
    On the same day the Vice Delegate, together with H.R.E. Mons. Pennisi, and several Knights and Dames, served a meal to the guests of the Hospice of Monreale, aided by the President of the Opera Pia, Dott. Viola. At the same time, in Catania a group of Knights, Dames and Volunteers of the Order, coordinated by Don Giuseppe Scrivano, Knight of Ecclesiastical Grace and Constantinian Chaplain, took part in the “Day of solidarity, altruism and Christian communion” organized in the Parish of St Francis of Paola. A generous solidarity meal was organized here for more than 200 needy people. Volunteers and fellow diners together enjoyed the delicious dishes, including the traditional “maccu”, in a festive and harmonious atmosphere.
