SICILY: CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES AND THE LITURGY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

On December 4th 2019, all the activities linked to the project “Briciole di Salute” continued in Patti in favor of the Franciscan Sisters who run the “Holy Family” Diocesan House. Volunteers Tony Zarrillo and Francesco Guerrera delivered various products to Sister Rita, including cookies donated by Fratelli Costa confectionery in Piedimonte Etneo (CT).

On December 8th HE Msgr Michele Pennisi, Archbishop of Monreale and Prior of Sicily, celebrated a solemn Mass on the occasion of the Immaculate Conception at the Cathedral of Monreale. Many Knights and Dames were present. A procession took place after the religious ceremony.

Mr. Gregory Dendramis, under the Vice Delegate’s guide, went to Piana degli Albanesi to deliver food and products for the “Briciole di Salute” project.

SICILY: ACTIVITIES OF THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER

On November 15th, HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies inaugurated “the room of the Two Sicilies” at the archiepiscopal seminary of Messina, which contains valuable documents and books about Messina’s history. Mr. Franz Riccobono illustrated the entire collection to the Princess. Before the inauguration, during a conference, the Princess communicated to HE Msgr. Cesare Di Pietro, vicar bishop of Messina, that HRH the Grand Master had named him Grand Officer of Ecclesiastical Grace. The Sicilian Vice Delegate, the representative of Catania Antonino Amato and the Marquis Mirti della Valle attended.

On November 20th, Mr. Giuseppe Longo and Mr. Massimo Vacanti delivered food, seasonal fruits and other food products to the “Madonna della Tenda di Cristo” center in Acireale.

On November 27th, the second distribution of the “Briciole di Salute” project took place in Monreale. Vice Delegate and Volunteers Daniela Prestigiacomo and Sonia Lo Monaco distributed Italian pasta, baby food, biscuits, diapers and typical Italian Christmas cakes (panettoni).

On November 27th 2019, the usual distribution of clothes and toys for children from 0 to 3 years old took place in favor of needy children in Piazza Armerina. Mr. Matteo Bertino and Mr. Marco Milazzo were present.

SICILY: ACTIVITIES OF THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER

On November 8th, the usual delivery for the project Briciole di Salute took place at the Benedictine Abbey of S. Martino delle Scale. The vice delegate, accompanied by Mr. Francesco Paolo Guarneri, presented to Father Bernardo, responsible of the Benedictine Caritas, in the presence of the Reverend Father Vittorio Rizzone, diapers, 96 liters of milk and several kilograms of pasta. These products will be distributed to needy families with children assisted by Benedictine fathers.

On Friday, November 8th, the vice delegate and Mr. Francesco Paolo Guarneri donated to the Abbey of San Martino delle Scale, on behalf of the Order, 13 copies of ancient paintings representing abbots who later became bishops. The paintings are intended to enrich and complete the splendid corridors of the old monastery, where many other paintings are already exposed.

On November 10th, a painting by Pietro Novelli of Monreale was restored and given back to the Abbey of San Martino delle Scale, in the presence of civil and military authorities. After the presentation of the restoration, a solemn Eucharistic celebration was held in honor of San Martino, presided by HE Msgr. Michele Pennisi. A delegation of Constantinian knights took part in the solemn religious ceremony.

SICILY: SOME ACTIVITIES FOR THE PROJECT “BRICIOLE DI SALUTE”

The Vice Delegate of the Sicilian delegation, accompanied by Mr. Francesco Paolo Guarneri and Dr. Gregory Dendramis, visited H.E. Msgr. Giorgio Demetrio Gallaro in Piana degli Albanesi. During the meeting, in the presence of the Head of the Diocesan Caritas, Dr. Giuseppe Caruso, new charity projects were discussed. In the end, the bishop delivered the current copies of the hagiography of San Demetrio Megalomartire. Immediately afterwards, the delegation delivered to Caritas some products of the “Briciole di Salute” project.

On November 2nd, the Tuscan delegation and the Sicilian delegation donated snacks and cookies to the Casa del Sorriso in Monreale, The cookies are made by Mrs. Enza Pizzolato at her bakery in Alcamo.

On October 30th, the second distribution of october for the project “Briciole di Salute” was held in Monreale. Volunteers Sonia Lo Monaco and Antonella Zito distributed diapers, baby food, milk, snacks, children’s clothing, pastries and toys for children.

On October 27th, HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect, accompanied by the Vice Delegate, visited the structure “La Vergine della Tenda di Cristo” in Acireale which hosts needy mothers and their children. Immediately before a charity lunch to raise funds for the structure, the Princess and the Bishop delivered to the structure many products for the project “Briciole di Salute”.

SICILY: H.R.H. THE GRAND PREFECT VISITS S.CATERINA VILLARMOSA


On October 27th, HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, accompanied by the vice delegate, visited the city of S. Caterina Villarmosa for an important event: the inauguration of a street dedicated to the Constantinian knights, taking into account the humanitarian activities led by the Order and in particular by the Sicilian delegation. Mayor Antonino Fiaccato with several councilors and a large group of knights welcomed the Princess. Caltanissetta referee Antonino Tramontana, promoter of the event and the referent of Enna Matteo Bertino introduced all knights to the Princess. A long procession started from the town hall, in the presence of many citizens, towards the street where the plaque of the “Via dei Cavalieri Constantiniani” was discovered. It was created by an artisan of Monreale, Giosuè Cangemi. Once in the street that was to be inaugurated, the Mayor and the Grand Prefect immediately discovered the tombstone, blessed by the archpriest Father Antonino La Paglia. After the inauguration ceremony, Father La Paglia went to the beautiful Mother Church where the Princess offered products to needy children. In addition, in the Mayor’s Hall, after the donation of the gold medal to the city, Princess Beatrice decorated the banner with it. Princess Beatrice also presented the Mayor with a commemorative medal.

SICILY: ACTIVITIES OF SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER

The inauguration ceremony of the municipal building of S.Caterina Villarmosa took place in the presence of the highest provincial authorities, including the president of the Sicily region, Nello Musumeci. The Constantinian Order was represented by Mr. Michele Antonio Tramontana and Mr. Giuseppe Balsamo

On September 25th Mr. Salerno and Mr. Cacioppo handed the priest of the parish, Don Rino Randazzo, the supplies for the month of September at the parish of Maria Santissima Annunziata in Castelvetrano.

On September 27th, Mr. Pier Francesco Mistretta, Mr. Antonio Fundarò and Mr. Antonio Vitiello delivered products for young children, baby food, milk and diapers to Bishop Giordano, Archpriest of Alcamo.

On October 4th, some Knights of the delegation took part in the solemn Eucharistic celebration at the parish Santa Maria La Stella, which sanctioned the official beginning of the ministry of the new priest Don Emanuele Nicotra. An exceptional delivery of pasta, tomato sauce, flour, oil and other food products took place during the afternoon, too.

On October 16th, the first distribution of the project “Briciole di Salute” took place in Monreale.

The vice deputy delegate offered to Father Giovanni Vitale, director of the diocesan archives of Monreale, a piece of furniture containing the precious documents of Archbishop Saverio Ferina, former director of archives. The donation was made on October 16th, 2019.

SICILY: ACTIVITIES OF THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER

The anniversary of Santa Rosalia‘s death, patron saint of Palermo and also of other cities and towns such as Ficuzza, was celebrated on September 4th. On the morning of Sunday, September 8th, H.E. Msgr. Michele Pennisi, archbishop of Monreale and prior Constantinian Sicily, celebrated a solemn holy mass in honor of Santa Rosalia.

On Wednesday, September 11st, the first distribution of the month of the products for the project “Briciole di Salute” was made. Mrs. Daniela Prestigiacomo, Lia Giangreco and Sonia Lo Monaco distributed milk, diapers, baby food, cookies, pasta and numerous clothing, toys and a stroller, donated by Cinzia Macaluso, president of the CreArtEventi association.

On September 12th, the activities of “Briciole di salute” were resumed in favor of the Franciscan Sisters who run the Diocesan Home of the “Holy Family” of Patti. This collaboration was desired by the Bishop of Patti H.E. Rev. Mgr. Guglielmo Giombanco. Mr. Tony Zarrillo and Francesco Guerrera donated several products to Sister Rita and Sister Shiny, including candies donated by the Fratelli Costa Confectionery Company in Piedimonte Etneo (CT).

BRICIOLE DI SALUTE AT THE CASA DEL SORRISO OF MONREALE

On Monday, September 9th, the vice-delegate and Mrs. Lia Giangreco handed over several products of the project “Briciole di salute” to the structure Casa del Sorriso of Monreale managed by Father Francesco. On this occasion too, the Tuscan delegation, which adopted the structure several months ago, sent 680 snacks for children. The Sicilian delegation delivered layers and about 15 kg of biscuits prepared by Mrs. Enza Pizzolato in her pastry shop in Alcamo. Ms. Antonietta, one of the leaders of the structure, which welcomes about 30 children, thanked both the delegation of Sicily and the delegation of Tuscany.
