The project “Briciole di Salute” is also active in the city of Paternò. On February 7th, Mr. Antonino Amato, Mr. Massimo Putrino, Mr. Giancarlo Greco and Mr. Giuseppe D’Urso gave the deacon Salvatore Mazzaglia one hundred panettoni (typical Italian Christmas cakes).

On February 11th H.E. Bishop Antonino Raspanti, Bishop of Acireale, celebrated a solemn liturgy on the occasion of the Solemnity of Our Lady of Lourdes, at the church of San Joseph in Acireale. The parish priest Emanuele Nicotra concelebrated the mass. Many Knights and representatives attended and were accompanied by the vice delegate. At the end of the solemn religious ceremony, a procession took place and immediately after it, a donation was made at the structure Madonna della Tenda di Cristo.

On Monday, February 11th, after the solemn Mass, some products were delivered to the Madonna della Tenda di Cristo structure in Acireale.

On February 13th, the first distribution of food was made in Monreale at the church of Maria SS degli Agonizzanti. In addition to diapers, baby food, cookies, milk and pasta, some medical products that had been collected at the local pharmacies were also delivered.

On February 13th, the vice delegate handed over a wheelchair and several diapers for the residence Benedetto Balsamo which hosts disabled old people.

On the occasion of the important celebration of the Candlemas, the delegation of Calabria participated in two solemn masses. The first one was held in the city of Catanzaro, near the parish of Sant’Antonio da Padova, where the Eucharistic liturgy was presided over by H.E. Msgr. Vincenzo Bertolone, archbishop of Catanzaro – Squillace diocese and president of the Episcopal Conference of Calabria. At the end of the celebration, all Knights, guided by the vice delegate, met the prelate of Calabria, who was given a copy of “A walk between faith and charity, Yearbook 2016-2017“, published by the Delegation. The Knights and the volunteers donated many clothes for the young prisoners of the Penal Institute for the minors of Catanzaro.

At the same time, a representation of knights participated in the celebrations of the “Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord Jesus in the Temple” in the city of Reggio Calabria, near the Church of Santa Maria della Candelora. The exciting liturgical celebration was presided over by H.E. Msgr. Vittorio Luigi Mondello, Archbishop Emeritus of Reggio Calabria-Bova and Prior of the Delegation of Calabria; Msgr. Luigi Cannizzo, Vice Prior concelebrated the mass. The representation of Knights and volunteers also made a donation for the poor of the area.

On February 2nd, the liturgical celebration of the Presentation of Our Lord Jesus at the Temple was celebrated at the church of San Francesco di Paola in Palermo. This feast is popularly known as “candlemas”. A representation of Knights and Dames of the Sicilian delegation participated.

On February 8th, the vice delegate and Mrs. Lia Giangreco delivered 400 cakes for the children at the Casa del Sorriso in Monreale. Diapers were also delivered for some newborn babies.

On February 9th, H.E. Msgr. Guglielmo Giombanco celebrated a solemn pontifical ceremony attended by the vice delegate and a representation of Sicilian Knights at the Cathedral of Patti. Father Antonio Cipriano, Vice Prior of Sicily and Father Giuseppe Gaglio, Rector of the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Tindari, concelebrated the liturgy. At the end of the religious ceremony, the vice delegate gave the diploma of Ecclesiastical Knight Grand Cross to Bishop Giombanco and also gave him a defibrillator that the bishop has assigned to the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Tindari, visited by thousands of faithful people.
