  • FEAST OF S. GIULIA IN LIVORNO

    Livorno,  22 May 2015. In the occasion of the Feast of Santa Giulia, patroness of Livorno, the Delegation of Toscana,  led by the  Delegate Comm. Edoardo Puccetti was invited by H.E., the very Reerend Monsignor Simone Giusti, Bishop of Livorno and Comm. of Ecclesiastical Grace of the Sacred Military Order of St. George, to the Pontifical Mass and the procession through the city streets with the relics of the Saint.

    Main Guest at the ceremony was the Vicar Delegate  of Sicily, Knight Grand Cross of Grace, Dr. Noble Antonio Di Janni.

    At the end of the celebration the new rector of the Cathedral of Livorno Don Donato Mollica, Constantinian chaplain, introduced  to Monsignor Simone Giusti, Bishop of Livorno, the Vicar Delegate of Sicily, who brought the best greetings of the Constantinian Prior of Sicily,  Monsignor Michele Pennisi Archbishop of Monreale. This year the Bishop led the procession to the port where he blessed the sea and prayed the saint to intercede in order to give back, through the sea,  dignity and work to needy families.

    At the procession there were also representatives of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher.

    Friday, May 15, 2015. During a Mass at the Basilica of Sant’Abbondio, Como Cathedral, officiated by H.E. the Archbishop Monsignor Oscar Rizzato, on behalf of His Eminence Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino, Grand Prior of the Order, he proceeded to the investiture of new Knights of the Delegation of Como, Pavia, Lodi, Bergamo and Brescia, Asti and Alessandria, and Milano at the presence of H.E. the Grand Prefect,  the Ambassador Augusto Ruffo di Calabria.

    In honor of the Grand Prefect, the Representative of Como, the Noble Dr Giuseppe Rizzani, Knight of Grace, offered a breakfast to all theauthorities  participating at the event in the Hall Constantine in the Odescalchi Palace.

  • NEW INVESTITURES

    Alessandria, 15 May 2015. The Delegation of Alessandria and Asti took part in the Solemn Ceremony of Investiture of the new Ladies and Knights, which took place in the Basilica of Sant’Abbondio in Como; two Ladies and six Knights from Alessandria thus become part of our distinguished Order.

    Some Senior Officers of the Order were present at the function, led by His Eminence the Reverend Archbishop Monsignor Oscar Rizzato, including His Eminence the Grand Prefect, the Ambassador Augusto Ruffo di Calabria of the Princes of Scilla; Delegate for Lombardy, Count Alessandro di Carpegna Brivio; the Secretary of the Royal Deputation, the Noble Piero Cutellè, lawyer; and the Representative for Pavia, Commander Dr. Cesare Talpini.

    The Representative for Alessandria thanked the Senior Officers for their willingness and benevolence in welcoming the newly-appointed members and the nobleman Giuseppe Rizzani, Representative of Como, for his exquisite hospitality. In a subsequent meeting with the new Knights and new Ladies, he recalled the words of His Eminence Monsignor Rizzato who, during the sermon, gave particular emphasis to the meaning of belonging to a sacred military order and the words of His Eminence the Ambassador Augusto Ruffo di Calabria who invited the new Knights and new Ladies to remain united.

  • MEETING FOR A “WALK THROUGH THE ARCHITECTURE OF CHARLES OF BOURBON’S NAPLES”

    Naples, Friday 15 May 2015. At 6 p.m. at the Istituto di Cultura Meridionale in Via Chiatamone 63 (palazzo Arlotta), the Delegation of Naples and Campania of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George organised a meeting with the Emeritus Professors of Architecture, Massimo Rosi and Aldo Loris Rossi, who will “accompany” the public “on a stroll through the architecture of Charles of Bourbon’s Naples”.

     

  • CELEBRATION OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA IN PALERMO

    Palermo, 13 May 2015. In what has now become a tradition, the Constantinian Knights were invited to join the Constantinian Chaplain and Priest, Father Giuseppe Di Giovanni to participate in the procession of the Pilgrim Virgin, during the celebration of the liturgical memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Fatima.

    The afternoon, which began with the offering of flowers from the confraternities, proceeded with Mass celebrated by the Provincial Father of the Domenican Friars and concelebrated with Monsignor Salvatore Sapienza, after which the solemn procession of the statue of the Virgin took place.

    The square, packed with thousands of believers who came to greet the Virgin with white handkerchiefs and accompanied by Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’. At the end, dozens of coloured balloons and doves were released, followed by the act of giving gifts to Mary by the youngest children in the neighbourhood.

    Thousands of believers, numerous confraternities, prayer groups and Knights took part in the procession which was led by the priest, Monsignor Sapienza and which weaved through the streets of the densely populated district.

    Monsignor Sapienza, in a conversation with some Knights, recalled the invitation from Pope Francis “to multiply our daily gestures of respect and imitation of the Mother of God” and to trust the Virgin with  “everything that you are, everything you have, and then you will be able to be a vehicle for the compassion and kindness of God for your relatives, your neighbours and friends”.

  • CELEBRATIONS FOR S. FRANCESCO DI PAOLA

    Palermo – Sunday, May 10 – The Provincial Father of the Friars minimi, Father Damiano La Rosa, Prior of the Delegation of Campania, celebrated the Mass in honor of St. Francesco di  Paola, a solemnity deeply felt by the inhabitants of Palermo. Concelebrated the pastor and Vice Provincial Father Saviero Cento, Father Giorgio Terrasi, Father Antonio Porretta,  constantinians chaplains and Father Mario D’Auria. At 17:30 the procession started with the silver statue of the saint through the streets of the city.

    The statue of the saint, wearing the Golden Fleece given by H.M. King Charles in the eighteenth century, as protector of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, after going to the port of Palermo, where it was welcomed by the sound of the sirens of the ships, went back to the church around midnight.

    Before the end of the ceremony, the Vicar Delegate for Sicily gave to father Damiano La Rosa the medal of the 280 anniversary of the coronation of Charles of Bourbon King of the Two Sicilies.

  • COLLECTION OF GOODS, MEDICINE AND CLOTHES FOR THE PEOPLE OF NEPAL

    Rome, 9 May 2015. The vicarious delegation of Rome of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George – as part of the project, “The Hunger of Our Neighbour”, which is strongly supported by the Grand Master of the SMCOSG, H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, as well as part of the continual food and health aid for those in need of the Parish of San Giuseppe al Trionfale – has organised a collection of basic necessities, including medicines and clothing, to help the earthquake victims in Nepal.

    Rome’s vicarious Delegate of the Constantinian Order, Marquis Giorgio Mirti della Valle, gave the Chancellor of the Delegation, the nobleman Doctor Fabrizio Ratto-Vaquer, the responsibility of getting in touch with the Italian Red Cross who are organising the shipping of basic necessities to the earthquake victims in Nepal.

    Consequently, he gave mandate to his peers, Knight Doctor Vincenzo Gaglione and Lady Doctor Antonietta Capparella for the coordination and identification of donations to help Nepal. They were already responsible for the coordination and distribution of provisions to the parish of San Giuseppe al Trionfale where, on 23rd April, for the solemnity of the patron saint, George, the Grand Prior of the Order, the Most Eminent Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino celebrated the Holy Mass, followed by the distribution of food packages and clothing to help those in need in the parish.

    After collecting a sufficient quantity of goods to send to the earthquake victims in Nepal, the vicarious delegation of Rome of the SMCOSG will come to an agreement with the Italian Red Cross to decide on a date for the delivery of the donations.

     

  • SAINT JOSEPH THE WORKER

    Livorno, 1 May 2015. The Knights of the Tuscan Delegation of Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George took part in the celebration of Mass officiated by His Eminence the Reverend Monsignor Simone Giusti Ecclesiastical Knight Commander of Grace, Bishop of Livorno, in the church of Saint Catherine of Siena, for the solemnity of Saint Joseph the Worker.

    At the end of the ceremony, in the presence of the Tuscan Vicarious Delegate, Knight Commander of Merit

    Edoardo Puccetti and the Prior of the Delegation the Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace, Father Rodolfo Rossi, His Eminence the Reverend Monsignor Giusti officially announced the promotion of Father Donato Mollica, Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace to Dean of the Cathedral of Livorno, at the same time appointing him to the Tuscan Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George.

  • THE DELEGATION OF SICILY’S NEW DISTRIBUTION TO FAMILIES IN NEED

    Monreale, 29 April 2015. The delegation of Sicily, for its second distribution of early childhood aid in April distributed nappies, baby food, biscuits, milk and everything necessary for children aged 0 to 3 years to the families which were present (around 60 families).

    The volunteers, led by Lia Giangreco, distributed the food products to the families identified by the Diocesan Caritas.

    So far, there are around 90 families which are supported each month by the Delegation of Sicily. Thanks to the volunteers and those who strongly believe in this project, food and other basic commodities are collected.

    The project “New Crumbs of Health” is in operation in Piazza Armerina in the province of Enna, in Messina and in Castelvetrano in the province of Trapani.
